PROSPECTUS 2022 - 2023

  Sacred Heart College, a minority institution, is managed by the Salesians of Don Bosco (SDB) of Chennai Province. This prestigious institution was established in 1951. It is an affiliated First Grade College of Thiruvalluvar University (State owned). In recognition of its meritorious services in the sphere of higher education to the poor, Sacred Heart College was accredited with 'A+' Grade (CGPA of 3.31/4 (4th Cycle − under RAF)) in 2019 from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Educationworld, a leading magazine has ranked the college for 2020, among the Autonomous colleges, at 19th place at National level and 7th place at Tamil Nadu level. The institution strives to bring about social transformation in the rural neighbourhood through its ideal of loving service flowing from the heart of Jesus.

   We, the community of Sacred Heart College, inspired by the love of the Heart of Jesus and fundamental human values, following the educative system of Don Bosco, are committed to the creation of an education that promotes an ethical and prosperous society where equality, freedom and fraternity reign by imparting higher education to poor and rural youth, enabling them towards integral human development.

GENERAL DISCIPLINE

  1. Admission to Sacred Heart College is no guarantee for a Degree. The College expects students to do serious and sustained hard work and to make maximum use of the facilities offered for their all-round development.
  2. The campus language is English. Hence the staff and students are expected to converse and correspond only in English.
  3. The use of Cell Phone in the campus is strictly prohibited. However under the supervision of the course teachers mobile phones can be used in the class rooms for teaching & learning purposes.
  4. Smoking, drinking and drug-trafficking in the campus are strictly prohibited.
  5. Ragging in any form is a serious offence and those indulging in it will be summarily dismissed.
  6. Attendance is compulsory. Those who fail to get the minimum attendance of 75% will not be allowed to appear for the semester examinations.
  7. Students whose conduct or attendance or progress is not satisfactory are liable to be asked to leave the college.
  8. Students are required to wear their Identity Cards certified up-to-date, on their person at all times and produce them to the duly appointed Security Guards on duty at the gates for entry and exit.
  9. College office must be kept informed with changes of address or phone no, if any, whether local or permanent.
  10. Students must maintain a sense of decorum and discipline inside the college and in the public places.

HOSTEL

  1. Limited seats for UG boys & girls.
  2. For PG Boys and Girls Hostel facilities are available.

LAPTOP

  Compulsory laptop for all Courses.

NOTE FOR THE PARENTS

  Parents are reminded that they are not absolved of their responsibility once their son/daughter is admitted to the college. The college expects parents or guardians to cooperate with the college authorities in the education of their children or wards. They should follow the student's progress in studies and general conduct in and outside the college. Their cooperation is solicited especially to ensure regular attendance. They are expected to come and see the authority whenever they are called by the Principal or HOD.

ADMISSION POLICY FOR UG COURSES

  1. Candidates without Mathematics in +2 are not eligible for taking up Computer Science, Computer Application, Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry Courses.
  2. Pure Science group students (Zoology & Botany) are eligible only for Biochemistry/Microbiology not for any other science disciplines.
  3. All are eligible for Economics, History, Psychology, Tamil & English Literature.
  4. For B.Com. & BBA courses - Commerce & Accountancy is a must.

Mandatory Instructions to Apply For Admission

  1. Application forms will NOT be sold in the College Office counter.
    கல்லூரி வளாகத்தில் விண்ணப்பங்கள் விற்பனை செய்யப்படாது.
  2. Help desks are available in the College for applicants who need help for online registration and application process.
    இணைய தளத்தில் விண்ணப்பங்களைப் பூர்த்தி செய்ய உதவி மையங்கள் கல்லூரி வளாகத்தினுள் செயல்படும். அதற்கு தேவையான சான்றிதழ்களையும், ஆவணங்களையும் கொண்டுவர வேண்டும்.
  3. Applicants will have to register and pay the application fees in online to access the application form.
    விண்ணப்பதாரர்கள் விண்ணப்பங்களைப் பூர்த்தி செய்து, விண்ணப்பத்திற்கான கட்டணத்தை online மூலம் செலுத்திய பிறகே உங்களின் பதிவு நிறைவடையும்.
  4. Applications which are incomplete/incorrect in any respect and without the necessary uploads shall be summarily rejected. Before applying online, applicants are advised to go through the detailed.
    முழுமையாகப் பூர்த்தி செய்யாமலும் மற்றும் பிழைகளுடன் பூர்த்தி செய்யப்பட்ட விண்ணப்பங்கள் நிராகரிக்கப்படும். எனவே, விண்ணப்பதாரர்கள் online மூலமாக விண்ணப்பிப்பதற்கு முன்பாக கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ள வழிமுறைகளைக் கவனிக்குமாறு அறிவுறுத்தப்படுகிறார்கள்.
  5. Keep all the necessary certificates for uploading before filling up the application and upload the documents without any mistakes.
    விண்ணப்பங்களைப் பூர்த்தி செய்வதற்குமுன் தேவையான சான்றிதழ்கள் மற்றும் ஆவணங்களைத் தயார் நிலையில் வைத்துக்கொண்டு விண்ணப்பங்களைச் சரியான முறையில் பூர்த்தி செய்ய வேண்டும் மற்றும் பதிவேற்றம் (Upload) செய்ய வேண்டும்.
  6. Filled in applications can be edited by going to the Home Page and Click on Application Edit option.
    பூர்த்தி செய்த விண்ணப்பத்தை மீண்டும் திருத்தம் செய்ய Home Page - இல் உள்ள Application Edit-ஐ Click செய்யவும்.
  7. To reprint the application go to the Home Page and Click on Application Reprint option.
    விண்ணப்பத்தை மீண்டும் Print செய்ய Home Page - இல் உள்ள Application Reprint-ஐ Click செய்யவும்.
  8. To know the status of your application go to Home Page and Click on Application Status option.
    உங்களது விண்ணப்பம் சென்றடைந்து விட்டதா என்பதனை அறிய Home Page - இல் உள்ள Application Status-ஐ Click செய்யவும்.
  9. In case you forget the application number, go to Home Page and Click on Forgot Application No option.
    உங்களுடைய விண்ணப்ப எண்கள் மறந்துவிட்டீர்கள் என்றால் Home Page - இல் உள்ள Forgot Application No-ஐ Click செய்யவும்.
  10. Applications can be filling from anywhere with a stable internet connection.
    இணைய தள இணைப்பு இருந்தால் எப்பகுதியில் இருந்தாலும் விண்ணப்பத்தைப் பூர்த்தி செய்து மற்றும் பணம் செலுத்த இயலும்.
  11. For UG students, start date of classes will be intimated later.
    UG மாணவர்களுக்குக் கல்லூரி துவங்கும் தேதி பின்னர் அறிவிக்கப்படும்.
  12. UG students, who wish to apply, scan the Result/Mark Sheet (Computer Print Out) of 12th Std. The mark list should be attested by a Gazetted Officer and upload in the college website.
    UG சேர விரும்பும் மாணவர்கள் தங்களுடைய 12 ஆம் வகுப்பு மதிப்பெண் பட்டியலை இணையத்திலிருந்து பதிவிறக்கம் செய்ய வேண்டும். பதிவிறக்கம் செய்த சான்றிதழில் (Computer Print Out) அரசு பதிவு பெற்ற அலுவலரிடம் (Gazetted Officer) சான்றொப்பம் பெற்றுப் பதிவேற்றம் (Upload) செய்ய வேண்டும்.
  13. PG students, who wish to apply, scan the Marks Statements from Semester I to V Semester in a single file only in PDF format and upload in the college website.
    PG சேர விரும்பும் மாணவர்கள் தங்களுடைய இளங்கலை பட்ட வகுப்பின் 5 Semester மதிப்பெண் பட்டியலை Single file ஆக மாற்றி அதை PDF Format ல் Upload செய்ய வேண்டும்.
  14. Applicants are requested to note down their Application Numbers and Name of the Course for future reference.
    விண்ணப்பதாரர்கள் விண்ணப்ப எண் மற்றும் விண்ணப்பித்த பாடப்பிரிவு ஆகியவற்றைக் குறித்து வைத்துக் கொள்ள வேண்டும்
  15. Kindly follow all the instructions. The College is not responsible for any loss.
    கீழே கொடுக்கப்பட்டுள்ள விதிமுறைகளைப் பின்பற்றவும். இதில் ஏற்படும் எவ்வித இழப்பிற்கும் கல்லூரி பொறுப்பேற்காது.

Kindly ensure that you have the following scanned copies of documents for Registration

  1. A Scanned copy of Result/Mark Sheet of 12th Std. (for UG Applicants)
  2. Scanned Copies of Marks Statements from Semester I to V Semester only in PDF format (for PG Applicants)
  3. Community Certificate (SC, ST & SCA Only)

How to Register

  1. Click on 'HOME' to view the Prospectus.
  2. Click on 'COURSE' to know the details of programmes offered.
  3. Select the link 'APPLY ONLINE' to apply online.
  4. In the 'New Registration' button enter the Registration Information.
  5. Click on 'Register' button.
  6. OTP SMS will be sent to the Mobile Number specified.
  7. Enter OTP in the Validate Page.
  8. Click on 'Validate' button. Your Application details will be sent only to the registered mobile number after verifying your mobile number.

After the publication of the Results

  1. Click on 'Already Registered/Application Edit' to fill up the Personal Details & Mark Details.
  2. If you forget your Application No, click on 'Forgot Application No' option in Home Page.
  3. Click on the check box 'Declaration' to declare that all the particulars furnished are true and correct.
  4. Click on 'Update' button to submit your Application.
  5. Upload the Scanned copy Mark Sheet & Community Certificate.
  6. Click on 'Make Payment' button.
  7. Choose a Payment Method (Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI/Wallet).
  8. Provide the Details required.
  9. Click on 'Pay Now'.
  10. Do not click refresh/back button or leave/close the page. Wait till your Payment is processed and Transaction is complete.
  11. Application 'Received SMS' will be sent to your Mobile number.
  12. You can 'Print/Download' your application form after Make the Payment of Application.
  13. Applicant can apply for more than one programme.

Note for Uploading the Documents

  1. File Format should be in JPEG/PDF.
  2. Image/PDF Size should be greater than 20 KB and less than 2 MB.
  3. UG candidate, if you have more than one mark sheet, convert it to PDF and upload as a single file.
  4. PG candidate scan your UG mark sheets upto 5th Semester, convert it to PDF and upload as a single file.
  5. Use Clear Scanner/CS Scanner Mobile App to convert the file in to Image/PDF format. (Optional)

Kindly ensure that you have scanned copies of the following for selected candidates

  1. A Recent Passport size Photographs only in JPEG format (not in Uniform)
  2. 10th, 11th and 12th Std. Mark Statements
  3. Scanned Copies of Marks Statements from Semester I to V Semester only in PDF format (for PG Applicants only)
  4. Transfer Certificate (TC)
  5. Community Certificate
  6. Aadhaar Card (Passport for other country candidates)
  7. Online Income Certificate (2022)
  8. Students Savings Bank Passbook (Front Page)
  9. Letter from Parish Priest (Catholics only).

Option for Online Payment (இணையதளம் வழியாகப் பணம் செலுத்துதல்)

  1. Candidates can pay their Application Fee online using Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI/Wallet
    விண்ணப்பதாரர்கள் விண்ணப்பக் கட்டணத்தை இணையதளம் வழியாக மட்டுமே செலுத்த வேண்டும். பணம் செலுத்த டெபிட் கார்டு / கிரடிட் கார்டு / நெட் பேங்க்கிங்/UPI/Wallet ஆகியவற்றைப் பயன்படுத்தலாம்
  2. Those who pay their Application Fee in online do not require to submit the hard copy of the Application either in Person or By Post.
    இவ்வாறு இணையதளம் வழியாக விண்ணப்பித்து பணம் செலுத்தியவர்கள், அஞ்சல் மூலமாகவோ அல்லது நேரடியாகவோ விண்ணப்பத்தை அளிக்கத் தேவையில்லை.

WITHDRAWAL

  A Student once enrolled for a course is expected to complete the same. He/she should not withdraw from the college without informing the Principal in writing. Otherwise, he/she will be liable to pay fees for the period his/her name remains on the roll.
Fees once paid will not be refunded. The applicants should upload and provide the following documents in original at the time of admission. Documents to be submitted in the College Office after the admission process Document Date will be informed.


UG Admitted Applicants:


  1. Transfer Certificate (TC) (Original).
  2. Attested Photocopy of Transfer Certificate (TC).
  3. Attested Photocopy of 10th, 11th & 12th Std. Statement of Mark Sheet(s).
  4. Recent two passport size Photographs (not in school uniform).
  5. Attested Photocopy of Community Certificate (Not applicable for OC applicant).
  6. Online Income Certificate (2022). (Income certificate period should not exceed 6 months at the time of admission)
  7. Attested Photocopy of Student Savings Bank Pass Book with front page. (*Linking Bank A/c. No. to Aadhaar is mandatory)
  8. Attested Photocopy of Aadhaar Card. (* Student name in the Aadhaar Card should correspond with name in +2 Mark Sheet)

  11. Disability students should produce the certificate.
  12. Candidates who have passed an examination of other state Boards, other state Universities and Foreign Boards should produce Migration Certificate from the Institute last Studied (After the Admission).
  13. Candidates who have passed an examination of other state Boards, other Universities and Foreign Boards should produce Eligibility Certificate from the Thiruvalluvar University, Serkkadu, Vellore (After the Admission).

PG Admitted Applicants:


  1. Transfer Certificate (TC) (Original).

SCHOLARSHIPS

  Government scholarships are obtained based on Government order. To help the bright, hard working and poor students, various types of scholarships are offered by the Management.

TO APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

  1. Attendance Certificate from the School/College last attended.
  2. Online Parent's Income Certificate issued by the Thasildar in 2022.
  3. Salary Certificate from the employer in 2022.
  4. Student Savings Bank Pass Book with front page any Nationalized Bank. (*Linking Bank A/c. No. to Aadhaar is mandatory)
  5. Student name in the Aadhaar Card should correspond with name in +2 Mark Sheet

FOR THE PUBLIC

  Sacred Heart College does not accept CAPITATION FEE (OR) DONATION for admission. If anyone promises admission to the college or Hostel on a consideration of donation, the matter should be brought to the notice of the Principal/the Secretary immediately.

GENERAL INSTRUCTION

  Students are advised to keep with them Xerox copies of all their certificates including TC before submitting the originals to the office. Requisition for original certificates once submitted in the office, will not be permitted.
